Our premier finish on stainless steel buckles: The buckle is meticulously hammered, and the rims around the indents carefully sanded flat from various directions to produce a shimmering effect as light dances across the face of the buckle. Prior to installation, the bolt and prong heads are also individually hammered to complement the buckle face (not an easy task given how hard, round, and small the heads are — causing the tool to glance off if it isn’t close to tangency with the area being struck).

Named for the Etosha pan in Namibia — the largest salt pan in Africa, which teams with birdlife during the wet months — this finish was inspired by high-altitude views of the meeting of the Kalahari and Namib deserts, where sun baked, wind-swept sands of the Namib blend into the flat-topped mesas of the Western Kalahari.
