Stainless Steel Buckles:

SIEGE Heavy Duty nylon belt Buckle Size Guide

The Large and Standard buckles are the most popular with men (about equal in popularity). The Standard size buckles are the most popular with women. The ovals are also liked by many men and women for their iconic cowboy/cowgirl/nautical shape. These three buckle types have the optimal weight, and for this reason are generally preferred over the lighter 3.5 oz Bantam buckles. For this reason only the brushed and flag finishes are listed for the Bantam buckles, but our more elaborate finishes can be made on request for these buckles.

Brass Buckles:

NOTE: The sculpted and hammered finishes shown below are just two of the available options for brass buckles. Brass is softer than stainless steel, and has a bit more weight.

Belt Play Considerations:

Both the brass and stainless buckles will be equally effective and impactful against target objects, but if you intend to engage in target practice with your belt, the harder stainless steel buckles will be much more resistant to dents and scratches than brass. The ideal buckle weight is between 5.5 and 6.5 oz, and any buckle in this range will be equally effective. The Standard size buckles are thicker than the Large buckles, resulting in a weight difference of only half an ounce. During target practice this small difference is easily made up for by the more concentrated impact of the Standard buckle. The Standard, Large and Oval buckles in stainless steel or brass will all do the job equally well. Once you have held one you will understand!

All of our stainless steel belts are equally tough, but for a “beater belt” that you plan to do a lot of target practice with, our most popular brushed (“Gray Man” finish) Fury, Ferocious, and Frenzy belts are the most scratch-resistant. Our belts are guaranteed for a lifetime of normal wear as a belt. While the buckles can withstand significant impact, for target practice one should avoid hard, rough objects such as rocks, which could mar the finish or potentially bend the prongs (to avoid this always swing the belt at targets with the face of the buckle leading, and avoid hard surfaces). The bolt and prong heads on the buckle face are designed to dig in and concentrate the impact. While we have never needed to repair a damaged buckle, should your prongs get bent or the buckle damaged or badly marred from impact, you can email us photos and we will evaluate the repair / refinishing options and let you know what the cost will be. We will relish the challenge of repairing our first damaged buckle! If, for some reason, it can’t be repaired in a reasonable amount of time, we will offer you a generous discount on a replacement belt. Replacement straps can also be ordered for a small fee, if needed.

Summary of Buckle Options:

Stainless Steel Buckles:

Brass Buckles:

  • LARGE: Approx. 6oz buckle with 1.5″ strap.
  • STANDARD: Approx. 5.5oz buckle with 1.25″ strap
  • OVAL: Approx. 6oz buckle with 1.5″ strap
  • BANTAM: Approx. 3.5oz buckle with 1.25″ strap (same profile as the Standard buckle, but thinner)
  • LARGE: Approx. 6.5oz buckle with 1.5″ strap.
  • STANDARD: Approx. 5.9oz buckle with 1.25″ strap

Strap Options:

  • Straps are 1.25″ high for Standard and Bantam buckles, and 1.5″ high for Large and Oval buckles.
  • Our high-density ballistic nylon straps are black on one side and brown on the other, and are available for all buckles. They come bolted to the buckle with the color of your choice facing out. If you change your mind on the color, a 7/16″ hex wrench can be used to unbolt the strap, and then after flipping it over, to re-bolt it to the buckle.
  • The black/brown straps are our most popular. While the brown looks fantastic, the majority of buyers choose black facing out for their first belt since black goes with everything.
  • We do have a few full-grain leather strap options, which are not currently listed (contact us for info).
  • Our customers invariably choose nylon for its superior performance and durability over leather.
  • Nylon is textured for high grip, and is lighter, thinner and more flexible, allowing it to be wound up multiple times around the hand for close-quarter belt play.
  • Unlike leather, nylon can also handle salt water exposure.
  • For our Standard size and Bantamweight buckles we have several other color options as shown below. Currently these are not yet listed for the Standard buckles, but if you would like one of these (or leather) for your belt, contact us.

Strap Length:

Important! To get an accurate strap length, follow this simple guide:

For accurate results, measure a belt you wear from the most-used hole or position to the end of the buckle. If you CCW IWB, then select the measurement that is midway between CCW and non-CCW, so that the belt is sized for both options.

"My new SIEGE Belt feels much cooler than the thick, hot leather gun belt I was wearing. It’s now a component of my first-line gear in my group firearms field training. I have the large buckle and just ordered a standard size buckle for daily wear."

(Jerry since ordered a SIEGE Belt for himself and after experiencing the comfort and peace-of-mind from wearing it a few months, ordered two more for his pilot sons — an enormous advantage of the belts over other EDC tools is that one can fly anywhere with a belt — which makes the SIEGE Belt unequaled as a travel accessory for securing oneself on adventures domestic and abroad.
