Siege Belts are individually crafted in the USA using a process perfected over many years and passed down from one artisan to the next. These sought-after heirloom-quality belts are designed to last lifetimes and be handed down for generations. The solid stainless steel or brass buckles are double-bolted to custom made ultra-high-density ballistic nylon with over 7,800 lbs (1.25″ webbing) or 9,400 lbs (1.5″ webbing) of tensile strength and exceptional durability.
Belt length is generally more than one’s pant size. Follow the steps in this image to get an accurate measurement for your belt order. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us!
We precision laser-cut each belt and its holes to the length needed. Since we switched to using a laser cutter, we have been adding extra hole positions to provide additional range for our CCW IWB customers.
For dress clothing, formal wear and work attire the Standard size buckle is slightly more popular with both men and women. Both the Large and Standard buckles are popular for casual wear. Men tend to gravitate toward both the large and standard size buckles, while women generally prefer the standard size buckles. The standard buckles are thicker, so that at 5.5 oz their weight is close to that of the 6 oz large and oval buckles. The performance is therefore much the same for all three size buckles, and they are the perfect weights for belt play. At 3.5 oz, the “Bantam” weight buckle is our lightest option. For those who wear belts with oval buckles — especially cowboy belts — our 6 oz Oval buckles are a great option, as well as for anyone wanting to add a new look to their repertoire.
Most belt customers appear to be happy with their color choice, but if you change your mind, the nuts can be taken off using a 7/16″ hex wrench, and the webbing flipped over. If you want both black and brown belts to go with different outfits, we recommend ordering a second complete belt with buckle. Black is the most common choice because it goes with anything, but brown is also popular and looks great too!
Yes! We have a few premium full-grain leather options. Our focus has been on the high-performance ballistic nylon webbing, which has been by far the most popular option for its optimal performance and incredible durability (including being salt water amphibious), but we hope to offer more leather options as time allows. Please contact us for details if you are seeking a leather belt.
Yes! We have some very attractive patterned nylon webbing. We haven’t had time to list it on all our belts, but you can see examples in our lightweight Phantom belt. When you order a belt, you can request one of these other webbing options in the comments field on the checkout page. Or you can contact us. Note that while our other webbing options are all high quality nylon, they will not be as resistant to wear as our black/brown ballistic nylon. Even so, we met someone who was wearing one of our belts that was around 20 years old with one of our blue-gray patterned nylon straps, and it was still going strong!
Existing Siege Belt owners can order replacement straps for their belts for $25 plus shipping. Contact us with your requested belt length and we will get back to you.
Every belt strap comes with a lifetime warranty. This covers defects or failure of the product from normal use during the lifetime of the original wearer. In addition, we are fully confident that our buckles will last for well over a thousand years of regular use. Intact buckles over 1000 years old are periodically found buried in Europe, and there are buckles in collections that date back as far as the bronze era, These buckles are generally decorative and relatively thin and made of bronze or copper. Our solid stainless steel and brass buckles are far more robust than these. If there is a defect or failure in your belt, contact us and, depending on what’s required we will replace the webbing and repair or replace the buckle at no cost to the owner other than the cost of shipping (buckle replacements may come with a different finish, and the webbing may also differ. depending on what we have available). Abuse of the buckle or webbing is of course not covered (for example, hitting solid objects such as walls, rocks, etc. with the buckle, and cutting or melting the webbing on a stove, etc.), but replacement ballistic webbing can be purchased from us for the nominal cost of just $25 plus shipping, and we may be able to repair and refinish a damaged buckle for less than the cost of a replacement. Normal wear is to be expected and is not covered. In spite of the strength of the webbing, it is not intended for other uses such as towing your truck out of the mud :). Webbing will shape itself to the wearer (a good thing), and will eventually show some age if worn regularly over a long time. Thus far we’ve never had anyone need to repair or replace their buckle or webbing for any reason.
At shows we attend, visitors to our booth sometime express disbelief that a belt we’ve worn almost every day for 13 years is that old considering how it looks almost new, but that’s nothing — we’ve met people who are wearing decades old Siege Belts (formerly Alp Belts) and they look great and function perfectly (they have been wearing them daily and won’t leave home without them). Recently, by chance we encountered someone wearing a belt that he purchased in 2003. He said he has worn it daily for over two decades, and it looked great! He had no desire to replace the original webbing and, delighted to discover us again after all these years, and knowing what a rare find and fantastic value they are, he and his friend purchased additional belts to add to their collections of “must-be-with-me” SIEGE belts.
When the master began his search for a belt material that would be on a par with his one-of-a-kind high-performance buckles, he tested a wide range of options. He zeroed in on Nylon, which performs much better than leather for several reasons: 1) Nylon is stronger than leather, 2) Nylon does not crack or rot with age, 3) Nylon permits swimming and wading and any other activity in which you might get wet, including salt-water, 4) Nylon slides out of belt loops easier, 5) Nylon is more flexible. However, he found that even Military-spec Nylon webbing stretches too much and does not provide anywhere near the strength or durability that we required. So, never one to compromise on performance, he found a specialist US manufacturer and worked with them to engineer custom webbing to meet his exacting standards. Woven to a super high-density on special equipment, SIEGE® Custom Nylon webbing for our Standard size buckles sports an estimated 7,830 lb. tensile strength, — almost 4 tons! and for our Large and Oval buckles an estimated 9,400 lb. strength — almost 5 tons! The high-density of the weave results in the belts having extreme durability. After holding it you will immediately see and feel that this is unlike other nylon webbings. After wearing one of our belts almost every single day for over 10 years it still looks almost new. Should your strap ever get to look old, a replacement can be purchased from us for just $25 plus shipping.
